Year End is approaching. It is a time of reflection and of action. We scramble to conclude projects by year-end, to take inventory and establish plans for starting the New Year off with a solid foundation.
In California, there has been widespread devastation from fires in the past weeks. Communities are responding, People are responding. Businesses are responding as Firefighters from near and far have been working tirelessly to save people, animals, structures and other physical property.
Today, let’s discuss taking inventory from a business and personal perspective. Do you know what you have on-site and/or in storage relating to your office and home? Have you documented assets to provide to an insurance carrier to file a claim in the event of a loss? Have you conducted an annual audit of assets to ensure what you think you have is what you have? If you were required to leave with little notice, could you maintain your business from a remote location and/or, could you access personal information easily? Have you considered investing time to video your assets room by room to have a basic inventory to help you recall what you have if needed?
If you answered YES to these questions, congratulations! Remember that this is a regular activity … as you buy/sell; give or get / add or delete information, it is important to update your records to reflect what “is”.
If you answered NO to these questions, what’s stopping you? Is no action / avoidance worth the cost of devastation? Would you be willing to make a decision, make a commitment to yourself, your business and your loved ones to take action?
Today, let’s send out appreciation for all Firefighters and all Public Safety Personnel across all agencies/communities. These are people who serve the public in adverse situations, day in and day out. THANK YOU. Tips for Thank You’s to Firefighters
