A Pause From Our Regularly Scheduled Programming

Rather than talking about life planning, today seemed to be a good day to take a pause from all that. These are the extraordinary times. These are times that urge us to uncover what matters to us.

Yes, I’ve been keeping a “stay at home” whiteboard to check off the days. My last public outing with friends in a restaurant was on March 11th. This post is on April 5th!

During these 23 days (writing this on 4 April) I’ve learned how much I depend on: having toilet paper at home; that I’ll add disenfectant wipes to my permanent shopping list; and that one can never have enough water, wine and flour (go figure). The kicker is I now realize just how often I touch my face and I’ve learned how to make a homemade mask using a bandanna and hair ties (or rubber bands)!

What can we learn from this experience, is a question I ask myself? For me, I’ve decided it’s a good time to thank our Founding Fathers for setting up our country as a democracy. I realize just how vital Scientists are to our public health and safety. That our front line health care workers are saviors on every level, first responders are the “angels” my dad used to describe whenever I heard a siren growing up and those who grow, distribute and sell/deliver all our food, supplies, mail, and essentials are our rock solid foundation in all times.

Our lives are disrupted and forever impacted. May we find courage amidst these times of uncertainty. Reach out and socially connect without physical proximity to those who matter to you. If you are able to do a little something for another, go for it.

Perhaps we can find unity something to cherish and hold dear the ability to build consenus and when we’re not able, to “agree to disagree”. As we take this pause in the regularly scheduled programming of day to day life, let it sink in how important every darn day is. Live, Laugh and Love deeply each day 🙂

We’re all in this together. Stay well. –Lynn
