Courage and Grief

Courage, noun, “the ability to do something that frightens one” OR “strength in the face of pain or grief”.

Have you ever mustered up the courage to face a situation, or has it ever taken everything you have inside to dig deep to find the courage simply to put one foot in front of the other?  The feelings of fear, pain and grief exist.  The messy bits are just that, messy.  Ask anyone who has experienced loss, it can take everything within self to get up and face the day.

Courage

Grief, noun, “deep sorrow, especially that caused by someone’s death”.

Rafferty Funeral Home in Moline, Illinois recently sent out a newsletter to those who have lost a loved one in 2015.  This month they address “Grief and Holidays” and ask us to remember what grief is.  Grief is painful, Grief is natural, Grief is a process and Grief is healing.

Allow the process of grieving to work itself out.  This process takes time.  Have the courage to look out for you.  Grief doesn’t have an “external face”, it can be silent, existing only within you.  Identify what you need and whether it is sleep, asking for help, taking a break  – give yourself the gift of self-care during this holiday season.

Thanks for being a part of the community.–Lynn
