A few times a year, I ask a professional to answer a series of questions about their work. Today, I’d like to introduce you to someone who provides invaluable work worldwide as a Certified Tax Resolution Specialist.
We all know about taxes! Having someone who can help when you encounter difficulty is a gift!

I met David Waddleton about a year ago. I was enlightened by his profession and inspired by his extensive knowledge of taxes and tax resolution. Waddleton Tax is a virtual practice providing Tax Preparation/Resolution and Accounting Services. As an enrolled agent and a Certified Tax Resolution Specialist, we can help clients across the world who have a filing requirement with the IRS or help clients resolve issues with state entities.
With a degree in Business/Accounting and an old school Computer Science degree, we provide a variety of services for clients. During Covid, I started/finished an Accounting degree, started my business, completed Enrolled Agent licensing, and worked full-time.
In my spare time, I like to enjoy the Pacific NW. I am on a dragon boat team that competes up and down the west coast. My wife and I like to explore national parks and travel internationally.
Now onto the questions so you can learn about David and his work with clients!
Question 1. What do you enjoy about working with your clients?
Being able to educate my clients on how they can save on taxes and reduce the complexity of taxes.
Question 2. How would you suggest a potential new client prepare for a 1st meeting?
Copies of their last 2 tax returns. Understanding that I am a virtual firm and that technology can be your friend.
Question 3. When someone agrees to become a client, what can they expect immediately? Over time?
Immediately, we send a representation agreement w/ a retainer, with an organizer to be completed afterward. There is constant communication through the process of reviewing materials and preparing the return. Afterward, we communicate applicable suggestions throughout the year and encourage communication when changes happen to the client.
Question 4. What is your service philosophy?
We are here to make the process easier. We provide services for people in different situations. Whether you are current/or not current on your taxes we understand that things happen and work to make it the easiest that we can for the client.
Question 5. What resources do you provide to assist “laypeople” with understanding what is being discussed?
I like to send IRS reference materials when needed, there are many guides that are consumable to clients. We also send emails and create posts that help clarify other tax issues and help educate.
Bonus Question! If you were to relay one piece of advice to anyone reading this, what would it be?
The most important tip is to always talk with a credentialed tax professional, if it is too good to be true, then it probably isn’t right. There is much disinformation online about taxes, credentialed professionals are there to help with the confusion.

During my years responding to aviation emergencies, I learned one critical lesson: preparation isn’t about predicting exactly what will happen. It’s about being ready for whatever might happen. Knowledgeable professional resources are the gift that keeps on giving, especially when tax resolution is needed.
