Fall Back!

Fall back, combined with Halloween, combined with a Blue Moon – that’s 2020 for you! Adding an extra hour to this year … seriously?! Yes, seriously!

Idioms That Apply to “Fall Back”

  • When Daylight Savings Time ends, an hour “falls back” to add an hour to the day
  • To retreat or withdraw
    • Move away from beliefs once held
    • From people or situations that feel uncomfortable (i.e. frightened)
  • To depend on something or someone (i.e. an emergency stash of cash, support from a friend)
  • To recede or move away (i.e. clouds move away to make way for the sunshine)
  • Leave what’s out of our control behind

Days seem longer. Winter is upon us. This time of hibernation is also a time of festivities and seasonal celebrations.

  • Sit back and reflect upon the year passing
  • Consider what you’ve accomplished
  • Begin thinking about what’s next
  • Amidst the darkness, always know there is light ahead!

This is a year of changes. Routines, work, activities and visiting others look different than in the past. What if we fall back into …

  • Taking stock in what matters and enjoy what brings happiness
  • Celebrating something good in each day
  • A beginners mind, see things with fresh eyes
  • Add tweaks to our days and create new routines
  • Find something new to go beyond where you’ve been before!

Time and Heart

  • Time is constant. There are 24 hours in each day, except today with 25!
  • Time moves us forward in new ways
  • Open up your heart and mind to new possibilities
  • How do we keep up with the new ways? Try things on for size and see how they feel
  • Keep your humor
  • Seek sources of support. Outside perspectives help when we are too close to something

Last week I wrote about navigating the moving pieces of life. The position, plan and route, or in other words; where we are, where we plan to go and how to get there is in constant motion. If we fall back from what we’ve known and lean into where we’re going, what lies ahead?

If this year has taught us anything, it is that we don’t know what we don’t know. Yet, I am a firm believer that we can cover our bases. Who’s got your back at home and work?

If you’re beginning to plan for Q1 2021 and want to talk about taking care of business at home and work, contact me via Email or check out the website @ The Living Planner for additional information. Let me know if there are other ways I may be of assistance.

Stay well –Lynn
