Fly Above the Clouds – Wellness Trends in 2020

Today, I’m combining two subjects near and dear to me – flying and well-being! Flying above the clouds has always been one of my favorite places to be. It seemed to be a new frontier where everything seemed possible. When I flew the first time on a private jet, we climbed to an altitude of 42,000 feet! What? 42,000 feet? Oh yeah!

Well-being becomes more important as the years pass by. Quieting the noise of everyday life, enjoying time with people dear to me, allowing creative and/or insightful thoughts, incorporating good habits, maintaining good health – taking the big picture view allows me to believe all was well with the world.

Looks like I’m not alone. In 2020, there are noteable new wellness trends in the workplace. The concept of wellness is changing. Well-being is openly discussed by employees of all generations, as we focus on overall health and wellness.

As a proponent of statistical measurement of engagement, retention, productivity, attraction and ultimately corporate culture; well-being is a benefit with a ROI for employers and employees alike. TalentCulture identifies the top six benefits companies in 2020 for investment:

  1. Holistic Benefits – address all aspects of care, including mind and body components;
  2. Ensuring that alternative families have access to equal benefits will be a significant shift moving into 2020;
  3. A focus on mental health and stress reduction benefits;
  4. Adventure and social good programs;
  5. Expanding financial wellness programs for all employees;
  6. Using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to predict evolving employee needs and benefits investments better

Have you considered establishing goals and milestones for life at home and your life planning as part of yourwell-being strategy? If not, here are a few things to consider: how you’ve set yourself up; how you’re protecting yourself while you’re living and how you want to care for things after you’ve gone.

Digging deeper, ask yourself a few questions:

  1. Have I taken the action(s) I ultimately want to take?
  2. Has my situation changed since I last took action?
  3. Were the choices I made then, appropriate now?
  4. Are there changes I’d like to make moving forward?
  5. What is a timeframe I can live with to complete my desired action(s)?
  6. Do I need any help moving forward?
