Is it time for a reboot for 2021? Is there anything about 2020 you’d like to bring with you moving forward? Are you ready to burn some sage and start over?! Lets look forward as we get ready to start a new year!
Looking Forward – Let’s Look at Two Areas of Impact
Efficiency and Effectiveness have been a challenge this year.
* The pandemic has disrupted our daily lives at home, at work, at school. Our routines have changed drastically. These changes impact us knowing what and how to carry out day to day activities.
* The difference between effectiveness and efficiency can be summed up this way (borrowed from InsightSquared). “Being effective is about doing the right things. Being efficient is about doing things right.”
Thinking about a Reboot? If so, what are the “right things” you’d like to “tweak” for 2021? What are things you’d like to “do right” next year?
Consider Areas of Life to Reboot. It may help to separate the segments of your life into two: Time on the Clock and Time off the Clock.
Time on the Clock includes when you are fulfilling responsibilities for others. You may be paid or unpaid for these activities. Ask yourself if you feel inspired or expired. Asking this question brings to mind how you are feeling about what you are doing and how you are doing in it. These are the areas to include:
- Work
- School
- Vounteering
- Community Involvement
Time off the Clock includes everything you are doing for you. Are you taking care of you in the following areas of your life?
Reflect Before Reboot!
Before considering what or if to reboot, make some time to reflect upon what’s transpired this year. Think about the emotional side of change and the learning curve involved with anything that’s new.
The Wellness Wheel from Yale is a reminder we are multi-faceted. Always consider all facets of life that comprise us. Time off the clock is vital for our long-term wellbeing. If this year has taught me anything, it is that the little things matter.
