American Thanksgiving is upon us. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday of the year! It was great when I lived and worked in Canada for four Thanksgivings to have two days a year to celebrate being thankful! If you’ll indulge me, I’d like to Talk Turkey with you today.
No, not the literal turkey, although it is pretty yummy! This turkey talk is about why I believe so strongly in helping you all consider the variables in life and interpret them in lay person terms you can understand. Over the years I’ve seen sudden loss, illness, accident and incapacity. This impact has been profound, giving me a deep appreciation of living and for life.
I’ve come to understand the circle of life and the importance of having help as we go through life. There are times when we would benefit from having help, yet we don’t always know how to ask for help or we aren’t quite comfortable receiving it.
Do you remember the song, “With a Little Help From my Friends”? “I get by with a little help from my friends” brings a smile to my face as I’ve thankfully experienced it time after time. As much as we may love to give or to receive, it is in the beauty of allowing both that bring joy 🙂
As much as I would like to say we will not experience something unexpected, if we do, it is important to me that you have information in advance as a “go to” reflex to help with the administrative stuff of life. There are many quirky details that help you and your loved ones when they are planned in advance. Quirky details are my thing!
Seeing how components come together like the pieces of a patchwork quilt is how I view planning for life. Getting past the fear or “woogies” and proceeding with taking care of business before something unexpected happens is a gift that keeps giving. It allows us to concentrate on the matter at hand, knowing the administrative side of life is ready for us when we need it.
During this week of Thanksgiving, I wish you, your families and your friends sincere thanks. It is a pleasure going through life with you. Breathe in the moments before you with an appreciative heart.
When I wrote my book The Living Planner© I wrote a quote to remind me of why I do what I do. It is: “Live life fully every day, love with all your heart and always be prepared – we don’t know when our time here is finished” – LLL
Sharing experiences I’ve had and what I’ve learned from them to assist people and businesses is what I love to do.
