Reviewing the most recent data showing that two of three American adults don’t have a will, it was time to dig deeper. Alas, there was no mention about the practical aspects of life. The data revealed information about ages and reasons “why people had not” drafted up a will, yet there was nothing covering our day to day life practicalities.
Theory vs. Practice
This is when it seemed as if theory and practice were both missing the mark. In theory, legal documents cover the state’s court related basics for people. If legal documents are not completed, the court decides what happens to us and our things.
The practical aspects of life are largely overlooked by the law and are up to us to handle. There are no court mandates or decisions that can be made for us personally. That’s up to us.
When working the crash sites, the practical aspects of life were top of mind to those impacted by tragedy. Their concern about how to continue living day-to-day with access to what their loved one had handled overshadowed all else.
While many of you have not experienced this, my wish for you is to be able to function with the day-to-day life tasks amidst horrible moments. And better still, experience all of life with confidence and comfort that you and those you love will be cared for no matter what.
Where to Begin?
Taking it slow and keeping it simple is my motto! When you begin a project like this, it’s helpful to break it down into manageable pieces. This allows you to watch your progress and celebrate your success!
With this in mind, here are the subtopics for twelve months – Access to:
- Where you live +
- What you use
- People that count on you
- Your Schedule
- Your Personal Identification
- Financial Accounts
- Medical Information
- Protection Policies
- Legal Information
- Information About Your Residence
- Online Accounts
- Decisions You’ve Made
Monthly Checklists
To help you get started, I’ve created a complimentary Monthly Checklist. You will receive a monthly email with a checklist for that month.
