Year-end Tips

This time of year affords us an opportunity to reflect upon the year.  What worked well this year?  What tweaks may we make for next year?  Are there areas of opportunity to explore next year?

Year-end tips and tricks from the experts include specific areas of review.  Here are a few areas you may wish to consider.

Financials

Know your numbers!  Knowing what you have, where you stand can help direct your path for the coming year.  Record keeping is an important part of knowing your numbers.  Recording, analyzing and reporting are essential to record keeping and tax filing.

P&L information allows you to know where you stand.  Debt to equity ratio, margins, cash flow, pricing and the cost of goods sold all come into play.  Are you satisfied with your bottom line?  Are there areas of improvement to net a greater bottom-line?

We don’t know what we don’t know about the impact of the tax revisions just passed by Congress.  Stay alert and stay informed as the changes become clear in the coming weeks and months.

Goal Setting

Having an idea of where you wish to end up helps direct the course of the New Year.  Mapping out various areas of your life with specific goals and an action plan to achieve them is recommended.  Make time to think big and you’ll prepare yourself to act bigger!

Prepare Tax Documents

Yes, it’s that time again – year-end means tax filing is a few months away!  Whether you are a DIY person or use an accountant, document and review 2017 early to make it easier on you!

Explore Opportunity

Changing up daily life, meeting new people, going new places, finding new ways to enjoy the day can be a great way to kick off a New Year!  Build upon the momentum created from the previous year and explore next year!

Finish Unfinished Business

Unfinished business can impede your progress.  Know you “must” do something, yet find you continually defer it?  Why is this?  What’s stopping you?  Is it important?  If it’s important and you haven’t reached the place of “wanting” to complete it, it may be time to think about how you’ll feel when it is completed.  If it’s not important – let it go – take it off the to-do’s and give yourself a break!

Give Thanks

Finding appreciation each day allows me to feel better even when things around me may look bleak.  As a young girl, I believed that attitude was a choice.  I still believe this! Seeking and finding the good in small and big things puts a smile on my face!

I give thanks for you all this year.  Thank you for being a part of this community.  Thank you for giving me feedback throughout the year.  Thank you for the opportunity to serve you.
