Advisory Perspective Series Lindsay Friedman

It is my absolute pleasure to bring you the latest Advisory Perspective Series update today, featuring Lindsay Friedman. I was on a panel with Lindsay and was intrigued and curious about this vibrant woman.

We arranged a Zoom connect between OH and CA to talk about how any of us navigate aging. Her expertise and wisdom, combined with her entrepreneurial spirit, led Lindsay to launch two companies to make life easier for families of aging loved ones.

Lindsay Friedman is a four-time founder, lifelong multigenerational caregiver, and former nursing assistant with hands-on experience in memory care and eldercare. She is the founder of CareBloom and LTCareNav, a platform that connects families with vetted long-term care experts, making quality care more accessible and affordable. Passionate about bridging gaps in the aging and caregiving space, Lindsay combines tech, personal experience, and advocacy to empower families navigating complex care decisions.

Question 1. What do you enjoy about working with your clients?

What we enjoy most is being able to make a difficult and often overwhelming process feel more manageable for families. Many people come to us during moments of uncertainty, stress, or crisis, and there is something incredibly meaningful about helping them move from confusion to clarity.

At LTCareNav, we have the opportunity to educate, guide, and advocate for people during some of the most important decisions they will ever make for themselves or their loved ones. We enjoy building relationships with families, understanding their unique situations, and helping them feel supported rather than alone in the process.

One of the most rewarding parts of this work is seeing the relief families experience when they finally understand their options and have a plan in place. Whether it is helping someone navigate care for an aging parent, prepare financially for the future, or simply feel heard and understood, knowing that we can reduce stress and improve outcomes is what drives us every day.

We also genuinely value hearing people’s stories. Every family’s journey is different, and those personal experiences are what continue to shape and strengthen our mission to improve how people navigate long-term care and aging.

Question 2. How would you suggest a potential new client prepare for a 1st meeting?

The best preparation is simply to come ready to share your story, concerns, and goals. At LTCareNav, we understand that many families are stepping into long-term care planning or caregiving for the first time, often during stressful or emotional moments. You do not need to have everything organized perfectly before speaking with us.

That said, it can be helpful to gather:

  • Any current care concerns or diagnoses
  • Insurance information (Medicare, Medicaid, long-term care insurance, VA benefits, etc.)
  • A list of medications or care needs
  • Financial or legal planning documents, if available
  • Questions your family has been struggling to answer

Most importantly, we encourage clients to think about what quality of life means to them or their loved one. The more we understand someone’s values, family dynamics, and priorities, the better guidance we can provide.

Question 3. When someone agrees to become a client, what can they expect immediately? Over time?

Immediately, clients can expect clarity, support, and a real partner in navigating what often feels like an overwhelming system. Our first priority is helping families understand where they are today, what options exist, and what steps make the most sense moving forward.

Depending on the situation, that may include:

  • Care navigation and placement guidance
  • Education on payment options and benefits
  • Long-term care planning
  • Resource coordination
  • Emotional support and advocacy for families

Over time, LTCareNav is designed to evolve with the client’s journey. Needs change as people age, health conditions progress, or family circumstances shift. We aim to provide ongoing guidance, tools, education, and trusted connections so families can make informed decisions at every stage rather than reacting in crisis mode.

Our goal is not just to solve today’s problem but to help families feel more prepared for the future.

Question 4. What is your service philosophy?

Our philosophy is centered around empowerment, transparency, and compassion.

The long-term care system is fragmented, confusing, and often reactive. Families are expected to make life-changing decisions during moments of stress without having access to clear information or coordinated support. We believe people deserve better.

At LTCareNav, we focus on helping individuals and families make informed decisions with confidence. We believe care planning should be proactive rather than crisis-driven, and that every family deserves access to understandable guidance regardless of their background or financial situation.

We also believe technology should enhance human support, not replace it. That is why our approach combines education, personalized guidance, and AI-powered tools to simplify complex care journeys while still keeping empathy and human connection at the center.

Question 5. What resources do you provide to assist “laypeople” with understanding what is being discussed?

A major part of our mission is translating a highly complex system into language people can actually understand. Families are often introduced to unfamiliar terminology, regulations, funding programs, and care options all at once.

To make this easier, we provide:

  • Educational content and guides
  • Personalized care navigation tools
  • Checklists and planning resources
  • Explanations of Medicare, Medicaid, and long-term care funding
  • Provider and care option comparisons
  • AI-supported tools that simplify complex information into actionable next steps
  • Ongoing support and answers to questions as situations evolve

We focus heavily on education because informed families are better equipped to advocate for themselves and their loved ones.

Bonus Question! If you were to relay one piece of advice to anyone reading this, what would it be?

Do not wait for a crisis to start planning.

Most families enter the long-term care world suddenly after a hospitalization, diagnosis, fall, or emergency and are forced to make major decisions under pressure. The earlier you begin conversations about aging, caregiving, finances, legal planning, and support systems, the more options and control you will have later.

Long-term care planning is not just about preparing for worst-case scenarios. It is about protecting quality of life, reducing stress on families, and creating a roadmap for aging with dignity and support.
